Chávez and Morales agree to build petrochemical complex in Bolivia

Granma International, Cuba

Caracas, (PL).— Presidents Chavez and Morales signed a letter of intent on Sunday for the joint construction in Bolivia of a petrochemical complex, two cement plants and the development of forestry projects.

The petrochemical complex will be built in the Chapare region while the two cement plants will be part of a joint enterprise currently being constituted.

This past August 10 the two leaders signed an agreement related to electrical energy and efficiency in energy use.

That document will lead to the construction of a hydroelectric plant, a project in the framework of the Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America (ALBA).

The agreements signed address other work in energy development as well, including the creation of Petroandina, a joint enterprise that will be devoted to the exploration and exploitation of crude oil in the area north of La Paz.
